Edena Low

Edena Low is Head, Sustainability Advocacy at Vivien Teu Law Practice.

Edena Low is sought after for her approach to building sustainable business performance and reputation for companies.  She has deep experience in leading global teams to create and implement business strategies in governance, risk and compliance, environmental and social sustainability, health and safety, as well as public international affairs. Her approaches inevitably lead to stronger risk and sustainability organisational cultures, which translate into measurable value creation and sustainable impacts for businesses.

She is a high-integrity and inclusive leader who is results oriented, driving performance with empathy and a sense of humour.  She instils trust not only with teams she leads, but with peers, leadership and external stakeholders.  Her strong networks evidence her ability to go beyond transactional relationships to meaningful engagements with people from all walks of life.

Most recently, Edena was Chief Legal, Compliance and Sustainability Officer at Grobest Group, whose purpose is to feed the world through innovative and sustainable feeds for warm water aqua-cultured fish and shrimp. Grobest was a portfolio company of Permira Funds, a global investment firm. 

She is co-founder of The AdviXory, a global advisory firm that works with business leaders to solve business and supply chain challenges across the globe through the lenses of sustainable business, risk management, public affairs and human capital.  

She serves on the faculty of The Centre Asia, whose mission is to advance the field of corporate public affairs by providing industry-leading executive education and advisory board services.

She is the Governance Board Chair at the Ethical Supply Chain Program, as well as a committee member of Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong’s Board Risk Committee.   

Edena was previously in various global leadership roles at Mattel Inc. and has more than 30 years of international experience including stints at Group RCI, American Standard Companies, Iomega and Ingram Micro, all US listed corporations, after she began her career as a corporate lawyer at Allen & Gledhill.

She has been active in impact ecosystem building, contributing to standard setting and industry engagements on sustainability, ESG and impact issues and sustainable finance, specifically in the investment and capital markets, holistically covering regulatory, legal and policy perspectives, and advises across the spectrum of capital, ESG issues and asset classes, public and private markets, for-profit, non-profit organisations or hybrid structures, and range of fund structures and financing instruments.

Prior to establishing Vivien Teu Law Practice / VTLP Impact, Vivien has solid industry experience from strategic roles throughout her career, including senior in-house legal experience with global asset management firm, Invesco, and practised with leading international funds and regulatory practice including magic circle law firm Clifford Chance, and most recently with global law firm Dentons, where Vivien assumed key roles as sustainable finance lead on the Global ESG Steering Committee, Global Funds Leaders Group and Global Financial Institutions Practice Group, driving impact focus within mainstream finance and capital markets.  Vivien’s leadership in sustainable finance, global funds and industry engagement is matched with her commitment to community and ecosystem building. 

With the vision of the role of law in purposeful partnerships and projects, to align capital with sustainability and increasing focus on measurable positive environmental and social outcomes, Vivien’s experiences include advising asset owners, asset managers and also charitable foundations in establishing purpose-led initiatives, related stewardship and governance considerations and structure design, B Lab’s legal requirements and certification standards for B Corps, green and sustainable finance frameworks and instruments, legal issues of carbon markets and climate transition, climate mitigation and adaptation strategies and funds, nature-based solutions and finance, impact term-sheets and other innovative finance instruments for impact, advocacy efforts as well as engaging in market proposals for policy, legal and regulatory levers for advancing sustainability and impact.
